Butterfly Goodbye
Annual Event, October 20, 2012 1-4 p.m.
All Ages. October marks the end of our 2012 season of butterflies and flowers in the Garden. Though our Station will close until April, some native butterflies survive the winter as eggs or chrysalises and others will migrate to warmer climates. To prepare the station for the colder months, chrysalises are harvested and brought indoors, flower seeds are collected for spring planting and plants are trimmed and mulched. Don’t miss this chance to work with our gardener, collect seeds from our wide selection of plants and gather a little gardening advice. By spring, you might just have your own backyard butterfly habitat! The Garden is a living laboratory for learning about the environment and is a haven for nature photographers. It is open and free to the public during regular Science Center hours through October 20. |
