Experience a step back in time and into Danville’s train history with the N-scale masterpiece.
The Estlow Train Layout is a step back in time and into Danville’s train history.
The 150-square foot N-scale masterpiece was the creation of John “Jack” William Estlow, Jr., a charter member of the Danville Model Railroad Club. Estlow spent hundreds of hours constructing the details, landscaping and electrical system of the layout, even crafting the majority of the nature displays by hand.
Jack passed away in 2010 but his work lives on at the Science Center thanks to the donation of the layout by his daughters Nina Taylor and Joyce Payne, and his grandson Allen Taylor. Jack’s passion inspires future generations of railway engineers.
