Please note: Gift memberships will not activate until they are redeemed by recipient. After you complete your purchase, you will receive an email confirmation with instructions on how to share the gift membership with your recipient. Do not enter the gift recipient’s information on the checkout page.
Dome passes are digital and automatically applied to your membership at the time you join. Guest passes allow free general admission to the exhibitions only and are valid for one time use per person.
Memberships are final sale and non-refundable or transferable. All levels, benefits and prices are subject to change. Membership benefits may not be used for group visits.

May I purchase a membership as a gift?
Yes! There are three ways to purchase a gift membership.

What is included with the gift membership?
Guest passes, Dome passes, discounts at the gift shop, special programming and a digital membership card.
When will the gift membership activate?
The recipient determines when their benefits begin by activating the gift membership online, in person at Guest Services or by contacting our membership team at 434.791.5160. The member will need the Gift Voucher Code in order to activate their membership.
When does a gift membership expire?
Gift memberships expire on the last day of the month, one year from date of activation. (If you redeemed a gift membership on October 6, 2023, it will expire on October 31, 2024)
How long will it take the gift recipient to receive a digital membership card?
Digital membership cards are emailed to the gift recipient at the time of activation.
If I want the gift membership mailed to me, how long will it take?
Gift memberships will be emailed to the buyer immediately with instructions on how to send the recipient their gift membership.
Do you have something I can send to the recipient letting them know I've purchased a gift membership for them?
Yes! We have a few designs you can pick from and you can choose a print and fold option or an email option. Click below to view the designs. Just download the one you want and you're on your way!
