We Can't Wait to See You!

Laws of nature. The scientific process. Monopoly rules. Each gives us policies or steps to follow that help us set expectations of things to come.

The Danville Science Center is your place to discover! We follow a set of operating protocols to help ensure every guest has the best experience. If you’re into details like us, take a gander below at how we run things.

Outside the Science Center

The City of Danville requires a permit for any planned public gathering of five or more people that may interfere with normal use of public property.

Science Center Admission

  • Tickets can be purchased in person at the Science Center.
  • Guests should use the main doors of Science Central or Science Station for entry.
  • Members are encouraged to download and present their digital membership card to help encourage a quick and smooth check-in process. Members who do not have their membership card may be asked for ID.

While at the Science Center

  • Public hours of operations can be found by visiting our hours and admission page. Public hours may be extended for Science Center programming. Private event rentals are not open to the public. Unauthorized persons found after posted closing times are subject to removal and further legal action.
  • To moderate the flow of guests, Science Center staff will actively monitor spaces. If an area gets too crowded, we may ask that you check out another part of the Science Center until guests exit that area. Please be patient if this happens during your visit.
  • Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Appropriate attire, including shirt and shoes, is required. Please refrain from wearing clothing with adult language or that depicts adult situations.
  • Smoking, chewing and use of electronic cigarettes are not permitted.
  • No food or drink is allowed in the exhibitions. Food and drink can only be consumed in the snack area.
  • Guests cannot block walkways or access points.
  • Guests may not solicit or provide materials for or otherwise promote or solicit other organizations or causes without Science Center approval.
  • No firearms/weapons or any other objects that are deemed unsafe by Science Center staff are allowed in the Science Center.
  • Be respectful of other guests and recognize there might be a line for a popular experience. Trust us, we know it’s tempting to spend hours running in the hamster wheel!
  • Please observe the age restrictions in Crescent Crossing, our space for early learners ages five and younger. The big kids have the rest of the Science Center, so let’s reserve this space for our younger scientists.
  • Running, wrestling and rough play is not permitted inside the Science Center.
  • Staff may take photographs, video and/or audio of guests interacting with exhibits and enjoying programming. The Science Center uses the materials for promotional purposes, including but not limited to advertising, social media, media outreach, website placement and printed materials. If there is anyone in your group who does not want to be photographed, please let Guest Services know when you arrive.

Violations of the above policies may result in removal from the Science Center buildings or campus.

We're here to help! Please ask a staff member or a volunteer if you have any questions while you’re visiting.

So there you have it, some of the ins and outs of how the Science Center runs. Please be sure to check out all the things you can do at the Science Center as well as accessibility information before your visit.
